You can make the stakes - and the logs - last a LOT longer in the dirt by just charring them on a fire, or with a propane torch. Try to use hardwood stakes, even better if you can get cedar, yew, and other rot-resistant wood. Nice video, very simple method that works well.

Not only do the gills glow, the mycelium does as well.. I grow them because of this, as I am fascinated by the bioluminescence. The brood bags can be used as a lightsource to read by, in my completely darkened shed. Currently waiting on the next flush. 2 patches in the backyard, one on beech, the other on oak chips. On two nights, The light was bright enough to clearly see them with a half moon. Going from having a fear of mushrooms to growing them in my shed... I saw the light, hehe.

Tell me, would it ever be a bad thing to have too many of these, based on what resources they consume (leave some for others) and what plants they pollinate (pesky weeds)? What eats them (would increasing a food supply cause any specific outgrowths of pesky upper-chain organisms)? I would like to start breeding them, and would love some feedback.

We have a lot of this growing around our place and a couple days ago, after finally looking into it, I decided to eat one of the buds. It tastes pretty good and after just a bit I thought I could feel it, and it felt pretty good too. So I went and picked a few more and when my wife got home I told what they are and what I read about them and we both ate 2 of them. A little while after that I felt really good, so I went and asked her how she was doing and she told me she was feeling really good too. We both ate a two again yesterday and could really feel it again. I picked a few more today and ate a few small ones and set a few more out to dry to make some tea. After looking into it a bit more I learned I should be picking those that haven't flowered yet because they're more potent, and there are a bunch of those out there, so tomorrow I'm going to grab a few of those and eat one or two. One of the things I noticed while walking around our lot yesterday and today, which is thickly forested, very rocky, and on a fairly steep hillside, is that my hips weren't hurting. Not even when I started walking back up the hill. The only thing I can attribute that too is the Heal-All. I can't say for sure that's it yet, but I don't have anything else I can say might be the reason. Some days are better or worse but they've been hurting for years now and I've always felt it walking up that hill. It's only been 3 days but I have to say I do think this stuff does work and I'm amazed. I've been ignoring it for the past 30 years.

I'm in the process of doing this now. It's pretty easy especially if you have soft ground that isn't too rocky like I do. If you don't have a lot of logs or boards lying around 8 foot landcape timbers cut into 2 foot sections work perfect. For the stakes I used crepe mrtyle limbs I pruned a few months ago. Once they were cut to size they worked great as they're pretty thin but very strong.
